Dora Anie was born and raised in Mepom, Ghana, West Africa. She was educated and taught school in Ghana for three years before immigrating to Canada to join her husband in 1973. She attended Fanshawe College in London, Ontario and received a diploma in Secretarial Arts and Bookkeeping. Dora completed her Life Coaching Training with Coaching Training Institute (CTI). She is the mother of two beautiful girls but has “raised more children than she can count”. Dora is an active member of MacNab Street Presbyterian Church.
To give back to her own community here in Canada, Dora volunteers at the Living Rock, an organization that helps and empowers at risk youth, and Empowerment Squared Homework Club that helps new immigrant children with their reading and writing.
Dawn Scaum met Dora Annie in 2006 and recognized Dora’s genuine passion in educating the children in Ghana, and after forming the organization Dawn was proud to be one of the first sponsors of the first school in Mepom and presently is a Board member of School of Dreams.
Dawn has been a volunteer Scout Leader for over 50 years, and has been recognized with medals for her work in Scouting from the past Governor General, The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, from the past Premier of Ontario Dalton McGuinty, and has also been recognized by the Legislature of Ontario for years of service as a volunteer.
Hazel Quammie is Jamaican by birth. After graduating from High School, she worked in the government service for a few years before emigrating to the USA. She holds a BSc degree in Accounting from the City University of New York. On moving to Canada, she worked in providing services for newcomers to the country, where she developed a passion for helping the underprivileged among us. This passion is transferred to working with Schools of Dreams to help provide better learning conditions for children in Ghana.
Aaron Fierling is a thriving entrepreneur and business development strategist. He began his life’s passion at the early age of 20 by purchasing his first restaurant and by the age of 22 he owned and operated his second. After a few years of growth Aaron liquidated both assets and moved into the Financial Industry where he went on to win several awards and honours. Since then, he has been a founder or partner in several successful start-ups and has transitioned into a role of empowering new business owners through the incredible journey of entrepreneurship. Aaron is honoured to be a member of the SOD executive council, joined by individuals who share his passion for philanthropy and who also believe in the equalizing and empowering strength of education worldwide.

Myrna Springer joined Schools of Dreams, bringing with her a career as a teacher of many years, in Hamilton, Ontario.
Myrna’s commitment to charity and learning are inspired by the lack she witnessed working with children who needed assistance.
She believes that a child is a product of the community, and by extension, any good that is done for a child is a greater good to the community.
Ann-Marie Anie is a trained educator for over 15 years and a certified yoga instructor with a passion for inspiring and empowering others towards being their highest and greatest selves. She is also trained for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, presenter, co-author of Lincoln Alexander unit, philanthropist, traveler, and curriculum-developer.
